Roma Add Flavio Ferreira To Their Shopping List

According to Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola, Roma's attentions for their summer recruitment are turning towards the Primeira Liga.

A Bola report that Walter Sabatini has set his eyes on Academica youngster Flavio Ferreira, who set a club record for being their youngest ever captain during the 2011/12 season.

The club captain, who only turned 21 last October, is a product of the Academica youth system and started out as a defensive midfielder before being converted to a central defender.

Said to be good in the air with a solid positional sense, Ferreira renewed his contract with the Coimbra-based side last December to tie himself to the club until 2016. However any potential deal may hinge on Academica remaining in the top division,
as they are currently engaged in a six-way relegation tussle with five games remaining.

Although A Bola are silent on whether there has already been contact between the clubs, FIFA agent Francesco Nicolato told calciomercato.com last week that "he is a very interesting player and is a name to keep an eye on for the future, but he is being followed by many clubs including Italian ones".
