Roma are keen to renew the forward’s contract, despite it still having three more years to run, in a sign of how desperate they are to keep hold of the 21-year-old.
Lamela has been linked with a number of clubs, including Manchester United. Indeed, speculation that the Argentine would be heading for Old Trafford was so strong last month that Sabbag was forced to issue a denial.
Roma splashed out over €14M to sign Lamela from River Plate in the summer of
2011.
This season he has been repaying the Giallorossi’s faith in spades, scoring 13 goals in 26 Serie A games.
