Andreazzoli Salutes Roma Win

Giallorossi manager Aurelio Andreazzoli has hailed his side’s never-say-die mentality as the squad showed the “necessary organisation” in their Coppa Italia semi-final match last night to beat Inter 3-2 at the San Siro.

The Nerrazurri put themselves ahead in the match through a goal from Brazilian left-back Jonathan in the first half.

Then Roma were able to turn things around in the second half, scoring three goals in a span of 20 minutes, including a brace from Mattia Destro.

Inter tried to stage a comeback, with
Argentine Ricardo Alvarez clocking a goal back at the 80th minute, but they ultimately lost the game which sends Roma to the final of the Coppa Italia.

“I told the boys [at half-time], ‘with the way things were going, we hadn’t the slightest chance of achieving our goal’”, Andreazzoli told Roma’s official site.

“Then we stopped being so imprecise and started to show the necessary organisation for games at this level.

“We then showed our quality. [We] played spectacular football, fought for victory”, the manager added.

Roma’s victory, 5-3 on aggregate, sends them to the final of the Coppa Italia on 26th May, when they face local rivals Lazio, a prospect that delights Andreazzoli.

“When I was appointed as coach by this club I set some goals, and among these was reaching the final, which will be played in our city in front of our fans. The fact that it’s a derby makes it even more special.

“We have a united group, so we’re pleased [this season]. Gradually things will fall into place.”
