Totti, The Second All-Time Goalscorer In Serie A?

Francesco Totti goal against Juventus.
Roma icon Francesco Totti moved to the verge of becoming the second-highest goalscorer of all-time in Serie A on Saturday evening.

Totti scored the only goal of the game as his beloved Roma defeated Juventus 1-0 in Serie A, and in so doing notched his 224th goal in the Italian top flight.

That puts the 36-year-old just one goal behind former AC Milan and Roma hitman Gunnar Nordahl, who bagged 225 between 1948 and 1958.

Top spot on the list is held by Silvio Piola, who has 274 goals to his name, after spells with Pro Vercelli, Lazio, Torino, Juventus and Novara between 1929 and 1954. Reaching Piola’s mark looks beyond Totti, but the Giallorossi star will be confident of surpassing Nordahl.

Totti is the only active Serie A player in the top ten list of Serie A all-time goalscorers, with other stars such as Roberto Baggio (205 goals), Alessandro Del Piero (188 goals) and Gabriel Batistuta (184) either no longer playing in the Italian top flight or having retired.
