Manchester United Set Sights On Lamela

Erik Manuel Lamela
AS Roma will have a fight on their hands this summer to hold onto Erik Lamela, who has been targeted by Manchester United, according to the Italian press.

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport report that the Premier League leaders have identified the Argentine attacking midfielder as a primary target for the summer transfer window, and are ready to lodge a bid in the region of €35 million for his services.

Lamela, who joined the Giallorossi for €12 million in the summer of 2011, has reportedly been tracked by Alex Ferguson and his scouts
since his days at River Plate, with the Scot now suitably impressed with the 20-year-old’s progress.

Roma are also bracing themselves for bid from Barcelona for teenage defender Marquinhos. The 18-year-old Brazilian has enjoyed a remarkable rise following his move to the club from Corinthians last summer, and has established himself as a first team player in the Roma backline.

The centre half will reportedly be subject to a bid of €25 million from the Catalan giants this summer, as Roma prepare to fend off interest in their prized assets.
