Sampdoria vs Roma (Preview)

AS Roma Probable Line-up
Sampdoria face a tricky game against Roma at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday afternoon.

The Blucerchiati go into the game on the back of a stubborn 0-0 draw away to Torino.

It is a sign of the impact new coach Delio Rossi has made since replacing Ciro Ferrara as head coach. Sampdoria have only conceded three goals in the six games since Rossi has been in charge. It is the kind of form that has helped Samp climb five points above the relegation zone. Sampdoria will face a tough task to keep this good form going on Sunday though, as they face a Roma side that will be looking to fight back after their disappointing defeat at home to Cagliari last weekend.

Roma sacked their coach Zdenek Zeman after a poor run of results which has seen them slip to 8th in the table. Last weekend’s 4-2 home defeat against Cagliari was the last straw for the Roma directors and Zeman was dismissed. Technical coach Aurelio Andreazzoli will take control of the team for Sunday’s game.

Squad News

Sampdoria will be without the influential Angelo Palombo for Sunday’s game, as he is still recovering from kidney stones. Eder had to travel home to Brazil for a family matter this week and will miss the game also. Jonathan Rossini is expected to replace Palombo in defence, while Roberto Soriano will be drafted in to play alongside Mauro Icardi in attack. New signing Matias Rodriguez makes the squad for the first time since his arrival from Universidad de Chile in January.

Roma will have to do without the injured Federico Balzaretti and Mattia Destro. Panagiotis Tachtsidis is suspended for the game.

Probable Line-ups

Sampdoria: Romero; Costa, Gastaldello, Rossini; Poli, Obiang, Krsticic, Munari, Estigarribia; Soriano, Icardi.

Roma: Stekelenburg; Dodo, Marquinhos, Burdisso,  Torosidis ; Bradley, De Rossi, Pjanic, Totti, Lamela; Osvaldo.
