Rossoneri President Silvio Berlusconi has made public his desire to bring the young striker to San Siro as the former Siena man is a known transfer target for the famed club.
“Milan? You should never say never, but I still see myself at Roma next season,” Destro told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Despite my difficulties, I don’t regret coming here. This experience is positive for me, the squad is beautiful and the fans are treating me well.”
The 21 year-old has scored only 4 goals in 16
Serie A appearances so far, but just recently netted a pair of match-deciding strikes in the Coppa Italia against Fiorentina and Inter.
Mattia also responded to a question asking which of his teammates’ skill has surprised him the most.
“I’ll say Alessandro Florenzi and Miralem Pjanic,” he said. “Miralem is extraordinary and he’ll be one of the strongest midfielders in the world in a couple of years.”
Destro is set for a spell on the sidelines after team physios confirmed that he has picked up a knee injury.
The striker suffered the problem in Wednesday’s first leg Coppa Italia semi-final win over Inter at the Olimpico.
Roma have today announced that the Italian international has sustained a tear to the lateral meniscus in his left knee and will thus require surgery.
He’ll go under the knife in the “coming days”, but the Giallorossi didn’t give an indication of when he will be back in action. ANSA are reporting that he could be out for two months.
