Marcos Aoas Correa, commonly known as Marquinhos, moved to Stadio Olimpico in the summer, but has impressed in the 16 appearances for Roma.
Under the terms of his current deal, Marquinhos is earning around €800,000 per season, but Roma officials are eager to improve his contract in order to ward off interest from top European clubs.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, Barcelona sent scouts to watch the Brazilian during their Coppa Italia match against Fiorentina.
It is also thought the Catalan giants would be
prepared to pay €8 million for the player.
But on the contrary, the player is currently very happy at the club and has no intention of leaving Olimpico.
As the interest in the 18-year-old continues to grow, the Giallorossi are aware they need to protect their prized asset.
