The Giallorossi are unbeaten in their last five matches and currently sit in fifth place, while the Rosanero haven’t won a match since November 2012 and only have three wins so far this season.
No matter the differences in the clubs’ performances, Andreazzoli still feels the match should be treated as if it were against one of the league’s top teams.
“If you look at the table then you’d say we’re better than the Rosanero,” the 59-year-old at his pre-match press conference. Since I’m old, I know that it is not always easy to play against clubs that are at the bottom of the standings.
“Given how my players have trained this week, I don’t think there’s any danger of us underestimating the opposition. We need to approach Palermo as if they were top of the table. Then we will have a good chance of winning.”
Although he admits that the recent international break has caused inconveniences in preparing for the match, the tactician revealed that he is still satisfied with the club’s preparations.
“It’s tough during the international break, but all teams have international players and so things are the same for everyone. We haven’t had the entire squad available, so that’s broken our rhythm a bit.
“As I’ve said though, it’s the same for everyone and we need to get on with it. Either way I’m very happy with the work we’ve put in this week.”
