The capital club are currently joint fifth in the table alongside Inter and Lazio, following their 2-0 win over Parma on Sunday.
However, they remain four points adrift of fourth-placed Fiorentina and seven shy of third-placed Milan.
"We need to dream of reaching third," Marquinhos told Sky Sports Italia following yesterday's victory.
"We know it will be difficult, but we’ll
slowly get closer to that target."
The Giallorossi have won four, drawn one and lost one since boss Zdenek Zeman was replaced by Aurelio Andreazzoli.
The Brazilian, who has been linked with Manchester City recently, added: "He is doing well, like the whole team. We need to continue on this path."
Roma will play Lazio, Fiorentina, Milan and Napoli before the end of the season.
