Reports emanating from the Italian press earlier this week suggested that Sir Alex Ferguson had targeted the 20-year-old as his marquee signing for the summer, and was prepared to part with big money in order to get his man.
However, Lamela’s representative Pablo Sabbag has rubbished claims that there have been talks regarding a move.
“No, there is no truth in that at all. For the moment, there is no offer from
Manchester United.”
“Obviously I have a relationship with them, but we have never discussed this particular topic. It’s the same with Roma, a club I have a continuous relationship with.”
“It’s just too soon to be talking about the transfer market.”
Lamela arrived at the Giallorossi in the summer of 2011, and has played an integral role in the side despite Roma’s poor campaign.
